CAD is a general term of systems with computer technology to draft and design a mechanical device etc. In addition to draw and output the design, this enables to support the calculation and analysis, as well as outputs the drawn data directly to NC (Numerically Controlled) machines, which further connects to "CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing, also see below)" in order to process the desired device. These sometimes refer to "CAD/CAM" or "CAD/CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering)".
